Several conditions get summarised as “lumps and bumps” including lipomas, ganglions, sebaceous cysts, and minor skin cancers. Russell is adept at removing these lesions, usually because they are causing an annoyance but occasionally because they have other symptoms. He uses refined techniques to minimise skin incisions and scarring, and also has knowledge of an array of skin flaps to avoid bigger incisions or skin grafts where possible. These procedures are almost always “day case” procedures and often under local anaesthetic where possible to avoid the complications and side effects of general anaesthetic.
